The Grand Seiko Experience: An Exclusive Showcase in Kolkata

Exclusive Lines – Luxe in Kolkata brought together connoisseurs, collectors, and members of the GS9 Club for an evening dedicated to fine watchmaking. This Grand Seiko event guided guests through an immersive setting where they could explore the craftsmanship closely and understand the depth of artistic and mechanical skill that defines every timepiece.

Exclusive Lines has long curated some of the world’s most refined products for Indian luxury buyers. Its Kolkata boutique provided the ideal environment for conversations around Grand Seiko’s watchmaking philosophy, the value of hand-finishing, and the engineering behind the brand’s most advanced movements. The special evening encouraged guests to slow down, observe, and appreciate details that set Grand Seiko apart.

At the heart of the showcase was the Japan Seasons Special Edition from the Heritage Collection. Four new timepieces celebrate The Nature of Time and honour Japan’s twenty-four sekki that mark the shifting seasons. The design reinterprets the original 62GS, with each dial expressing a distinct moment in spring, summer, autumn, and winter through finely rendered textures and colours.

The Tentagraph drew considerable attention from guests. The SLGC006 mechanical chronograph from the Evolution 9 Collection is limited to just 300 pieces. Its copper-pink dial takes inspiration from Mt Iwate, the peak visible from Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, where the brand’s mechanical watches are made. The watch is crafted in high-intensity titanium with ceramic and 18K gold details, giving it a refined yet robust presence. Inside, the high-frequency Caliber 9SA4 beats at ten vibrations per second and maintains a 72-hour power reserve even when the chronograph is in use. The remarkable finesse of the SLGW002 made a strong impression. This limited-edition timepiece pairs an 18k rose-gold case with the new manual-winding Caliber 9SA4. It has a dial texture inspired by the pattern of white birch trees found in the forests surrounding Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. With a high-beat frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour and an 80-hour power reserve, it was one of the most admired pieces of the evening.

Guests were also introduced to Spring Drive Caliber 9RB2, which received the new U.F.A. designation, standing for “Ultra Fine Accuracy”. This automatic movement redefines precision not in seconds per day or month, but across an entire year: ±20 seconds annually, making it the most accurate mainspring-powered wristwatch movement in production today. The limited-edition SLGB001 houses this benchmark movement in a platinum case with a blue dial inspired by the ice forests.
